Woody was kind, funny, and extremely helpful to me. He spent significant time advocating for me to get the care and intervention I needed leaving the hospital. He fought for me and went above and beyond his duty in so many ways. All the nurses at Wesley Long were amazing, but this one was exceptional.
I was admitted Sunday for an accidental overdose. I spend much of Sunday and Monday in a fog. I was moved Tuesday out of ICU into another unit. Although the staff had been professional with me, and no one was unkind, I felt aware of why I was there. And, no one spent significant time trying to understand why I ended up there.
Woody came in Wednesday morning, sat down and started asking me questions. He made me feel like a person, not a statistic. He took his time to understand my history of chronic injuries that led to 18 years of chronic pain which led to seeking pain relief by an untrusted source and put me in the hospital. He started fighting to help me find avenues of recovery and always listened and showed true empathy and support. I will always be grateful for his advocacy. I'm in a program, on the road to recovery because of him. Thank you.
