Wendy knows all too well that our CCAC referrals are complicated, both medically and psychosocially. Yet she embraces every referral with the respect and time it needs to help transition patients and their families home. What stands out most about Wendy is that when our often illegible referrals are unclear, she will spend time reading the chart to get the details so as to save her colleagues much needed time.Wendy values her teammates and this is most obvious.
An ideal example of Wendy's compassion to her patients as well as 6A/B was a quick turnaround discharge for patient with Crohn's Disease admitted to initiate EEN Therapy, needing to get home for a family event. The protocol for such a patient to go home was not new to Wendy, she followed up with the patient's home address, inquired about RN and equipment availability, even met with family knowing that a referral was coming. She was independent and proactive and empathetic to a family just wanting to go home.
Over the years Wendy has been so helpful in teaching me how to prepare families for their journey home, as well as how to better help CCAC help a family. It is always a pleasure working with Wendy, she is always available to answer questions, help problem solve and do so with a smile. Thank you Wendy!
