I have been an Upstate employee for many years and I was going through an extremely difficult time losing a family member. I did not want to call in for my shift because you never know what could happen. So, I decided to come to work. Two-thirdsthe way through my 12-hour shift, I received a call that my brother was not doing well. I had to finish my shift as soon as I could because of this. I called the supervisors and Vicky went above and beyond to get me on the road. I made it to see my brother within 1-2 hours, which if I had stayed longer, I would not have been able to be with him as he transitioned into another world. I have worked with Vicky for a very long time. She works so hard and her job is oftentimes thankless. She should realize that her insight into my situation was one of the kindest things anyone could do for a colleague. As I was leaving, Vicky hugged me and told me to be safe. I drove six hours to John's Hopkins and made it just in time before my brother passed away. Victoria Schnorr is an amazing nurse and made such a big difference to our family.
