It was 100% Victoria's commitment, hard work, and knowledge that I was able to deliver my baby vaginally after an extremely complex 30-hour labor. I feel forever grateful to her.
Victoria was my nurse for 3 nights while I labored and had my baby. I had a very complicated labor and delivery, which included severe preeclampsia, hemorrhage, and hyponatremia. I felt confident and safe in her care my entire stay. I felt that she performed at a very high level, and was clearly passionate about labor and delivery, as well as giving her patients the delivery they want. For multiple reasons, my labor was not progressing, and after 24 hours of no progress, my doctor recommended a C-section. I cried and was very emotional - I did not want a C-section and was very disappointed that after 24 hours of labor, I was still making no progress. My doctor gave me 4 more hours to labor, but said after that, if still no progress, she highly recommended a C-section. Victoria had just come on shift, and it was her 2nd night as my nurse. She told me she felt labor was stalled because I was very limited with the amount of loving positioning I could do - due to the magnesium and epidural. For the next 4 hours Victoria, my husband, and my 2 other labor support persons physically hefted and moved my body into all these difficult positions in order to get the baby to progress. It was physically exhausting for everyone involved. I never saw Victoria take a break or even get a drink of water. She was committed to me. When my doctor returned at midnight I had made the first progress with my labor in 28 hours. We continued with the position changes and 3 ½ hours later I had my baby, and did not require a C-section! It was 100% Victoria's commitment, hard work, and knowledge that I was able to deliver my baby vaginally after an extremely complex 30-hour labor. I feel forever grateful to her. She has definitely found the nursing specialty she belongs in, and her passion for her patients and labor and delivery is very apparent. Victoria went above and beyond what anyone could have expected of her. She took excellent care of me and gave me the delivery I wanted. Thank you!!
