The peace of mind Valerie gave me was very appreciated.
My mother who is 88 was admitted with chronic UTI and sepsis. Mom’s A Fib got out of control, so the doctor adjusted her metoprolol. When I left mom on Sunday at 8:00, I expressed concern about mom’s low heart rate. Valerie assured me she would monitor mom closely and I could call her anytime. I called in at 10:30 and Valerie had proactively called the doctor expressing concern about mom’s low heart rate and her reluctance to give mom the 75mg for the evening. The doctor told her to hold the metoprolol for the night. Valerie said I gave her other medications and Xanax. She told me to get some sleep and that she would call me if anything changed. I checked in with Valerie again at 5:30 am and Valerie said mom had a restful night and she hoped I was able to get some rest. The peace of mind Valerie gave me was very appreciated. I was able to share that information with all of my siblings who live out of town. Valerie exemplifies the caring approach nurses should have. Thank you, Valerie!
