Her positivity and compassion are a few of the things that everyone notices first about her, but there are many other characteristics that make Tyler an extraordinary nurse.
Tyler is one of the most extraordinary nurses I have ever worked with. I have worked alongside her on many night shifts in the past and I now get reports from her on dayshift. The first thing you notice about Tyler is her infectious smile and her positive attitude. I have never seen her do anything without a smile and even on her busiest and worst nights, she always stays positive. Even after a 12+ hour shift, she always wears a smile and tells every person she comes in contact with, "Good morning, I hope you have a great day!" as she leaves the unit (I could hear the pure and infectious happiness in her voice as I typed that out).
The smallest interaction with Tyler will brighten your day, and it's a blessing if you get to work a whole shift with her. She is always willing to drop whatever she is doing to help another nurse or patient. You will never pass her in the hallway without her asking you if you need help or what she can do to make your job easier. If you approach a group of nurses to help with a massive diaper change or a difficult patient, Tyler will be the first to jump to her feet to help. She is an incredible coworker to have. I have never gotten a patient from Tyler where the family or patient (usually both) did not compliment her. I even had a little girl cry because Tyler was not back the next night and the little girl missed her so much. She leaves the biggest impact on her patients and their families.
It is always a pleasure to get report from her because your day always starts off on a positive note due to the energy and happiness that radiates from her. I truly cannot put into words the positive energy that Tyler brings to the table and the amount of passion and care that she puts into whatever she is doing. Her positivity and compassion are a few of the things that everyone notices first about her, but there are many other characteristics that make Tyler an extraordinary nurse. She is tactful, sharp-witted, resourceful, and is always willing to listen and learn from others. I had worked in PICU for over a year when Tyler first started and had the pleasure of occasionally mentoring her, and now I look up to her and want to be more like her. She embodies everything a nurse should be, and she is one of the best coworkers I have ever had the pleasure of working with. To say Tyler goes above and beyond for her patients, their families, and her coworkers, would be an understatement.
