Tracy went beyond for a new family during a very stressful and tragic time.
We had a newborn whose mom was in the ICU fighting COVID. A man showed up at the visitor's desk wanting to visit the newborn with a different last name and no newborn bracelet. As a true patient advocate, Tracy validated the name with the next of kin on the mother's face sheet. She escalated the request and although she did not know it at the time, she gave this family, the only "family" moments they would ever have.
Tracy went beyond for a new family during a very stressful and tragic time. She demonstrated incredible compassion and what "being in the moment" can truly mean for our patients and their families. During their time together, Tracey and the father talked about the family's journey.
The father asked Tracey to take pictures of him and his newborn. Tracey called ICU to see if the nurse caring for the mother could FaceTime. Tracy took out her phone and faced timed the newborn's mom, sick with COVID in the ICU. Unfortunately, the mom continued to deteriorate and lost her battle against this dreadful disease.
