My wife was taken into L&D for a planned induction. From the moment Tina walked into our room, she exemplified compassion, patient education, nursing excellence, and advocacy. Her enthusiasm for her nursing profession shined as she explained to us thoroughly about everything that was happening with my wife’s plan of care for induction. She had a genuinely warm, caring heart, and she was instrumental in helping alleviate the stresses we had about the welfare of mother and baby. Throughout the night, as my wife was running into concerns with pain management or the progression of labor, Tina wasted no time notifying the appropriate providers to come examine my wife and recommend treatment. She is whip-smart and anticipates each situation before it develops into something emergent. For instance, despite the busy census of the unit, she was quickly able to coordinate anesthesia to come to place an epidural for my wife. When my wife had a hypotensive reaction to the epidural, Tina already had a bolus line set up for fluid resuscitation. As my wife progressed to active labor, Tina was managing the flow of the room, making sure supplies were ready, protocol was being followed, and consistently assessing how my wife was doing. We safely delivered our baby at 6 am, and Tina helped us get there. She played a big part in our little one’s journey to life, and it was truly inspiring to meet someone who took so much pride and sincerity in their work.
