Thomas ... so kindly spent his Saturday off waiting in a line of cars to wish me a Happy Birthday.
I was referred to Dr. H and met Thomas for the first time. I was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma Stage IV. For the past 15 months, Thomas has been my cancer coordinator. I have seen him in the clinic more times than I can count. Thomas is very laid back and easygoing. He is very calming during times of high stress and terrible news. He has always been encouraging and often the calm within the storm. I could always count on him to be there as I walked and continue to walk through this journey. He was there during the painful bone marrow biopsy; to take me to the ER during kidney failure and every low blood count requiring plasma and transfusions. Thomas was diligent in keeping my family informed when they could not come with me to appointments due to Covid and welcomed our hundreds of questions. He was a call away at all times and patiently explained things in a way I could understand. He coordinated my care with the OU Medical Transplant team, Baptist Hospital for procedures and pet scans. He has taken a huge burden off of me throughout this year by going the extra mile in every way. Thomas is a great assistant to Dr. H and they are the best team I could ask for. This past January I turned 60 and my family held a surprise birthday parade. Thomas was invited and so kindly spent his Saturday off waiting in a line of cars to wish me a Happy Birthday. This is just one example of how he showed his care for me and how much he cheers on his patients. I have always looked forward to seeing Thomas in the clinic. He seems more like an old friend than a caregiver. He has gone above and beyond to care for me and my family. Thomas is an asset to the INTEGRIS Southwest Medical Cancer Institute.
