Tara was my day shift nurse and she kept me laughing through pain and just made me feel like I was her only patient. She prepped me for a procedure to drain a perianal abscess and drain placement and then was there for me the next day too. She made me feel comfortable with having to show her my rectum and talking with her about my pain and how I felt as if I couldn't hold in my poop. She was professional and helped me every time I asked and even when I didn't ask and she just knew that I needed something. I was having difficulty wiping the day after the procedure so she got things to use where I could spray my bottom instead of wiping, she helped me become more comfortable about going home with this drain that is VERY, VERY, VERY uncomfortable. Tara was present in my room more than she needed to be just to make sure I was ok. I am not one to ask for a lot of help and she knew it so instead of waiting for me to ask which many nurses would do, she made sure she was present in my room so she could be there to help and I wouldn't even have to think about asking. Tara went above and beyond with her nursing care and upon my discharge, I felt confident going home with this drain because of her education and help that she provided me throughout my stay.
