My 3-year-old son awakened in respiratory distress. We went to the ER at Sentara Princess Anne and, due to his condition, we were transported to CHKD in Norfolk. This was quite a scary experience because we have been blessed with healthy children and never had an experience like this one. When we got there, Sydney introduced herself and was very welcoming. It was comforting to know that he was going to be taken care of and looked after by her. She not only communicated with me as a parent but also with him, making sure we both understood what was going on at all times. Sydney was helpful with all the questions we had, being very patient with us even when we got a little frustrated when things got a little confusing. She always asked if we needed anything when she was taking his vitals or leaving the room and told us we should let her know. She let us know when she was leaving for the night and when she would be back. She introduced us to the nurse that would be with us overnight and when she would be back. She made sure to check on my son to see how he was doing and if there was anything we needed. Sydney was a blessing to us during this time. It was a scary and unexpected series of events that she made easier and helped us get through with her caring and kindness. Thank you very much, Sydney!
