She is an inspiration and a model for me to aspire to in this area.
From the very beginning of my employment in the PACU, I have been amazed and inspired by Stephanie and her commitment to this unit and the staff here. She goes out of her way to assist every nurse with admissions, transfer of patients, initiation of medications, and triaging. When she walks into the unit, she says hello to each staff member. There is no task too large or small that she will not do and take the initiative to do without ever being asked. There was a patient next to my own who was very nervous regarding the outcome of surgery. I noticed Stephanie (while relieving the primary nurse) began talking to the patient about her fears. The patient then relayed her deep faith in GOD, and Stephanie (also having a very strong faith) asked the patient if she could pray for her. The patient was elated and asked, please. Stephanie prayed aloud in hushed tones as she held this woman's hand, asking for healing and strength. It brought the patient and me to tears. This touched my heart; it calmed and brought a tearful smile to the patient. No matter the situation, Stephanie is one of the kindest, most sympathetic nurses I have known in my 30-year career. She is an inspiration and a model for me to aspire to in this area. To be honest, I feel safe when I see her or know she is working. She is always on top of every situation before it even has the chance to "become" a situation. She is so well organized and efficient and has a wonderful relationship with all the staff. She goes out of her way as a charge nurse to make sure our physical and mental health is well taken care of... be it needing a day off, leaving early for a doctor appointment, or whatever the case, she will often times pick up the slack so another nurse can take care of personal issues. She has done this for me many times, and once when I was home alone, very sick with asthma, she prayed with me on the phone. Again, this touched my heart. She is one of the big draws to work in this unit, and I can't express enough how much she is so very appreciated!
