“I have been hospitalized for a very rare sudden onset condition after having the flu. The prognosis has been unsettling and very scary - kidney failure and blood plasma treatments. It has been so frightening because the outcome is unknown and the way of life as I knew it may never be the same. It has been at time overwhelming. Sonia is like a huge ray of sunshine. Interested in my condition willing to learn. Communicated the results of blood work in terms I understand. She is always smiling and keeps me positive when I felt trapped in so many unknowns. We make jokes, she showed me lovely pictures of her twins. Is so positive when I started to produce urine …. Not afraid to call the doctors when something needed clarification. She also just looks in for an extra minute to check and see how we (my family) was doing. But the thing that really brought such joy to our hearts was yesterday after a long day. She shared a video clip of her young son giggling as he moved a plastic container from one foot to the other. That infectious laughter so boosted my husband’s and my spirits. The attitude and professional manner have really made a difference to us. I love waking up and seeing her name on my board. I know her care, compassion, and attitude has affected my recovery.”
