I am a difficult patient and have had 4 surgeries this year after breaking my shoulder in January. I have had many issues with pain, blood clots, and yesterday was scheduled for yet another surgery, which was supposed to happen at 8 am, but was delayed.

Unfortunately, I needed to take anxiety medication, and after putting my call light on, I demanded to see the charge nurse. Shelley treated me with respect, dignity, and got my physician there to understand I needed help, as I could tell what was happening with my anxiety. She got an order, but not only that, checked back, made sure this was working, and followed up. She was able to talk to me and calm me down. She took initiative, and went way out her way for me. Even going to the OR. My BP was still up, but I knew it would have been worse. She showed so much compassion and "calmed me down".

Shelley showed she was a leader. She "led" others through this and didn't give up. She was also still there when I returned from surgery and kept the promise to have me discharged in an hour!
