Savanna is wonderful with her patients and has the critical thinking to provide professional care.
Twice in the last few weeks, Savanna has recognized, reported, and rectified the care of a patient from the ED who had severe sepsis/septic shock. She called the Code Sepsis and made sure that the patient had blood cultures and lactic done, antibiotics infusing, appropriate fluids infusing, second lactic done, and reported off to her team what measures she had done and what needed to be completed. She utilized the Sepsis dot phrase to assure everyone who accessed the chart knew this patient had severe sepsis and the measures that were done and what was needed.

The surgical area has multiple hand-offs of care and coordination and the continuum of care for these patients is critical and was very critical in the cases of these two patients. Savanna is an excellent resource for newer nurses who don’t know sepsis and for those more seasoned nurses who have less experience with these patients. She has been part of the sepsis expert group for several years and always has a positive outlook and great ideas on how to continue to improve the care of our patients. Savanna is wonderful with her patients and has the critical thinking to provide professional care.
