Sarah was tremendously compassionate and understanding of our situation.
Sarah Siniard was the nurse on duty on when my mother-in-law was brought in from her senior living center.  My mother-in-law passed away that day, very peacefully with her family beside her, thanks to the caring staff at Floyd/Atrium. Mostly, we had peace because of the courteous and knowledgeable nurse Sarah.

Sarah was tremendously compassionate and understanding of our situation, given my mother-in-law's health, advanced age, and the circumstances surrounding her admittance to the Emergency Room.  Sarah showed grace under pressure, particularly as her condition deteriorated and more of my family arrived.  She explained things to us as frequently as needed, and gently added more chairs to her room while discreetly taking away items to make more room for us. She gave us coffee, water, and tissues and allowed us as much time as we could have with our mother, without being intrusive.  When another nurse was a bit too energetic/enthusiastic, Sarah recovered the situation with professionalism and kindness. When my mother-in-law passed away, Sarah gave us more time and explained the next steps to us.  We are forever grateful to her.

I’ve experienced Floyd/Atrium many times over the years – in emergency rooms with loved ones and as an in-patient myself, but I’ve never been prompted to write a letter before.  Sarah deserves whatever recognition this letter can generate, as she exemplified the reason we trust nurses and have faith in the medical system.  She is an asset to the hospital.
