Sarah knew she had to do something, so she did what she does for all her patients and advocated.
Sarah was caring for one of our patients in recovery after a procedure. The patient was dealing with a lot. She was ill and had been losing weight and was unable to eat. Her husband was undergoing chemotherapy and had his own medical issues, and their daughter was busy running both parents to appointments while also toting a new baby on her hip. One of the patient's tests couldn't be completed that day, and she was told by the doctor to reschedule an appointment to be seen in a month. The patient looked at Sarah and said, "I'll be dead by then." Sarah knew she had to do something, so she did what she does for all her patients and advocated; doing everything in her power she could do for this patient. Sarah knew that this patient could not be put off for another month. She went to our supervisor and made her aware of the situation, who in turn ended up pulling strings to get the patient back on the schedule for the next day. The patient ended up returning and having her procedure done thanks to Sarah. She pours her all into every single one of her patients, and I see it every day I work with her.
