Recently the safe at the hospital was broken into; one of Sara's patients had their wallet stolen. He lost all of his credit and debit cards. At the time of his discharge, the pharmacy brought his filled prescriptions. Unfortunately, he was unable to provide the payment which also was holding up the discharge. Sara felt terrible for the situation and paid for the patient's medications out of her own pocket, telling him "we took care of it".
I would also like to recognize Sara for starting up the fundraiser "comfort for cancer" so we could buy fleece to make blankets for our patients. It is something they appreciate more than you know and adds a little happiness to a very hard and depressing time in their lives. She has continued to raise money, make blankets in her free time, and organize help from others to make them after volunteers stopped making them for us last year. She even bought and made a batch out of her own money. This is such a wonderful thing she is doing!
Sara is a kind and compassionate person and nurse. I love working with her. The world could truly use more people like her.
