This patient's journey began the end of May when she came to NCH complaining of headaches and nausea. She was hydrated, and many tests were run all coming back normal. She stayed a few days but then was able to return home. At home, she was able to eat a bit and felt better. I won't forget the turn of events. She had showered and wanted to go out for lunch but not without a manicure. She didn't feel up to going to a salon, but her lady agreed to come to the house. She became unresponsive while getting her nails done. 911 was called and it was back to NCH. She was healthy and none of us believed it was anything serious. All her tests were normal. On Tuesday, more tests were done. There were some abnormal cells. This was when her family flew in. Things were beginning to concern us. On Thursday we received horrific news. She had cancer. Things progressed quickly and the decision was made to go to comfort care and she passed away. All of the nurses at NCH Gulf View Suites were amazing, professional, and compassionate. Sara was extraordinary. This patient was my mother-in-law, my second mom, my friend. Sara treated her just as if she was all those things and more. She was comforting to all of us, (especially when we had standing room only much of the day and several of us stayed there overnight). She answered all of our questions and answered all of those same questions over again. She sat with us. She cried with us. She laughed with us, and she cried with us again. We appreciated her patience, her care, and her compassion. It takes a very special person to do a nurse's job, especially at the end of life. She is one of the best. I call Sara an angel! Thank you, Sara!

Compassionate care for a special patient. She was wonderful to a grieving family and friends. Fantastic nurse.

Sara is the kindest and most caring nurse I have ever met. She watched over my sister-in-law during her last day with such love. Sara was always trying to make her more comfortable and really helped make it more bearable for the family. She even prayed with us and really, we could not have asked for a more peaceful and loving environment.
