While seeking opportunities to grow and advance in healthcare, one's willingness to leave their home country to travel and support nursing shortages in another country, already shows a unique dedication in one nurse's ability. Sangeetha sees that teamwork is a matter of vital priority when it comes to caring for patients.
On a shift that seemed to be normal, a fellow nurse got sick at work. While the concerned team cared for the nurse and ensured she was assisted to the ED, Sangeetha stepped up and began caring for not only her assigned patients but all others as well. Sangeetha recognized that because they were losing a nurse it will call for everyone to muscle up and be ready for additional patients. Sangeetha stepped in, asked how many can I take to help? After being assigned her 6th patient, she asked to take the 7th patient to keep the charge nurse from having to go into staffing. Although Sangeetha remained with 6 patients, she was in such good spirits and remained very supportive in order to get the job done and keep the patients safe. Sangeetha not only volunteers to help, but she has also been given the title "IV start queen" by some of the staff because of her proficient skill in starting IVs.
Sangeetha is recognized by patients for being caring and timely with meds. In leader rounding, Sangeetha is noticed for showing consistency of updating her communication boards each time pain meds are given. I know this seems like her job, but consistency is key to create behaviors that continue to make a difference.
Sangeetha can communicate, build trust with the patients and team members while acting under pressure. Although filled with questions regarding nursing practices in the US, Sangeetha is understanding and becoming more and more comfortable with demonstrating nursing skills among a diverse group of nurses.
Sangeetha does a phenomenal job in caring for every patient every time, sees the job as important, and makes a difference with the team on every shift. She is a true DAISY Nurse.
