Without her help, we would not have had enough nurses to give the exceptional care we are all so proud of giving. Sandy truly embodies what it is to be a good leader.
Sandy has been my floor nurse manager since I began my time at St. Luke's two years ago. Every time a nurse/staff needed assistance, a word of advice, a break, or a schedule adjustment, Sandy was your person. She made sure to be inclusive to everyone, treat all with respect and compassion, and created a work environment of trust and hard work. There were multiple times that we nurses were extremely busy, running around without a lunch break, and the call lights going off that Sandy would answer those lights to take a patient to the restroom to help us. She didn't "have" to do that. But she cares enough about her staff that she willingly steps up to help. Her care does not go unnoticed. Other examples of her selflessness include times when Sandy would come to help out on the weekends that we were short-staffed. She never complained, she just did it. Sandy is a manager worth recognizing and deserves to be appreciated at the highest level.

Sandy is an incredible manager and mentor for our team. We have a very challenging floor, where she is always willing to go above and beyond to help. During this difficult season, she has been on the frontlines with us, working as our charge nurse and on the floor with her own assignment, all while continuing to do her regular managerial responsibilities. She works to support each of the staff's needs, both professionally and personally. We can always count on her to work with us and listen to our concerns. Recently, as our staffing needs have worsened, she has stayed beyond her regular hours to take an assignment and help us out. Without her help, we would not have had enough nurses to give the exceptional care we are all so proud of giving. Sandy truly embodies what it is to be a good leader. She gives a helping hand, does more than what's expected of her, and continues to juggle everything with incredible grace, compassion, and humor. We are so lucky to have her and I cannot think of anyone more deserving of recognition than her.
