For my second pregnancy, I suffered again with severe hyperemesis gravidanem. I had already been hospitalized twice and in the ED for dehydration and uncontrolled vomiting. After a few weeks of this misery and probably 15 failed IV attempts, the decision was made to insert a PICC line. Being an RN here at KWMC myself, I know what's involved and I was really apprehensive. Luckily for me when I arrived in the ICU for my PICC placement, Ron was the VAT nurse. I was so glad to have Ron's gentle demeanor and familiar face.
Ron took care of me as if I were his own daughter. I was by myself, I was sick, he even helped me make it to the bathroom to puke. I was so weak that Ron took his own time to go get a wheelchair and personally take me back over to the clinic so that I could start receiving my IV therapy. Once at the clinic, Ron stayed with me until I was checked in. I am so grateful for his personal care for me and going out of his way to make me feel safe and not alone.
