I was recently a patient at St. Joe's Hospital North for 11 days, diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Ro was frequently my floor nurse for whom I developed a fond appreciation.
It is obvious Ro is passionate about her responsibilities and duties. She consistently demonstrated a unique and spirited desire to provide care with a nurturing flair. As I was experiencing no/extremely limited mobility of my arms and legs, Ro was compassionate, encouraging, and positive with regard to my recovery and its process. When she was not assigned to my floor on particular days, she would frequently come to visit me to check on my progress even after she completed her own work shift.
I specifically inquired as to why Ro chose to work at St. Joe's Hospital North. She enthusiastically replied with a mini-dissertation as to why working for BayCare was one of her specific goals. St. Joe's Hospital North was close to her personal home and she felt BayCare provided a step-above, cutting-edge inpatient treatment and management. Working for BayCare was her "dream come true".
It is readily apparent that Ro's commitment to excellence is heartfelt and intense. Her sense of humor and laughter, both incredibly important to her patients and their families, are infectious.
Any "Guest" at St. Joe's Hospital North who has had the pleasure and privilege of being cared for by Ro has been given a blessed gift.
A few more thoughts regarding Ro…
She smiles and the room smiles with her
She explains and we all learn
She is effortless and we all strain to keep up
She is a friend in Nurse's attire
She gives you time away from your worries and problems
She creates good memories
God did a good job when he made Ro Lindsay
And
I will sing and dance
Or sweep the floors
Whatever it takes for this wonderful lady to wear a DAISY.
