Patricia provided care to a patient who was homeless. The patient was being discharged to a facility for further follow-up. The patient's only mode of transportation was a bicycle that she was riding when she was hit by a car. Miraculously, the bicycle came to the hospital with the patient. At the time of discharge, Patricia assisted the patient downstairs for her ride with her bicycle. On the way to the car, the bicycle stopped rolling forward. Rather than not do anything and send the patient home with a non-working mode of transportation, Patricia repaired the bicycle by fixing the chain and derailleur and releasing the brake pads and putting everything in the right place so that the bicycle worked. This act of kindness allowed the patient to not have to repair her bicycle and also continue to have a reliable mode of transportation.
