Pat has such a special, caring heart. It is so amazing to me how much love she showed for me, having just met me.
I have cancer. I just found out for sure during a short stay at WellSpan York Hospital. It's hard to even write it down. I am 37. Needless to say, it was a shock. I was supposed to be getting a curative hysterectomy and found out that it had spread to my lymph nodes. Pat made it better. She went through something very similar, and I can't really describe how much it meant to me to have her sit and talk with me. Tell me her very personal stories so I knew what to expect. Even showing me her scars so I could see they weren't "that bad." It really meant the world to me. Pat has such a special, caring heart. It is so amazing to me how much love she showed for me, having just met me. It made everything bearable. She spent time talking to my husband, too. He's not coping with the news very well. She sat with him and let him fall apart, doing nothing but listening and holding his hand. It made such an incredible impact on both of us. The amount of love in her heart was so apparent. We will NEVER forget her. Ever! She made such a difference in my life when I needed it most. Before I left, she gave me her cell phone number and asked that I stay in touch and let her know how I'm doing. She even offered to take me to my chemo appointments! Pat has a heart of gold, a true DAISY Nurse, and deserves a set of angel wings and a halo. Thank you, Pat!
