Anyone who has been a patient at a hospital can attest to how difficult is to give up one's modesty because of one's inability to move. When one is in excruciating pain, grace is difficult to come by, courtesy is not a priority in one's manners, and any patience once possessed is out the window. In addition, we have to trust people we have never met to care for us in our worst moments. This setting is not a great foundation to build a friendship. Yet, one compassionate, beautiful, intelligent, and dedicated nurse showed me that it is possible.
Nav's inherent sense of humor brought laughter into my many difficult moments. She never took my grouchiness personally. Instead, she made me laugh. Laughter truly heals the soul. There is no one specific incident worth mentioning; rather, it was every single interaction I, and my wife, shared with Nav. She demonstrated her ability to empathize, her ease in sharing her knowledge (my wife learned so much from her regarding my care), and her genuine, effortless, and generous attention to helping me heal. She exemplifies your mission perfectly. So much so, my wife and I started calling her our "Angel". I will always remember Nav's kindness, humor, invaluable care, and our "good-bye" hug. I and my wife will remain forever grateful to have had Nav, my Angel, care for me on my path to better health.

I have been working with Liberty Ambulance as an EMT for about two years now. I have been taking patients from 6NE to DFCC in partnership with PSJMC. In that time, I have had the fortunate luck to work with Nav in patient care and transport. This nurse has always greeted us with a smile and a kind heart. She has gone above and beyond to help us with anything to assist in the safe and comfortable transport of the patient. But more than that, she has shown extraordinary patient care in every single contact we have had with her.
In my humble opinion, working in the EMS field as long as I have, I have rarely run into nurses of her caliber when dealing with patient care. Not only is she meticulous, but she is caring and kind to her patients. I can attest to this because every time I pick up one of her patients, they are always smiling and complementing their patient care!
