Naomi magically made our stressful situation disappear and turned the delivery of our son into a peaceful and joyous experience.
At 38 weeks pregnant and battling stage 3 breast cancer since the start of the second trimester, to say there was some anxiety surrounding my induction of labor is a vast understatement. There was a very narrow window for delivery in between cancer treatments and still a lot of unanswered questions about the future. My husband and I got settled in the delivery room right at shift change and in walked Naomi. Her presence was that of an old friend a confidant - our rock through the journey. As the night went on she walked us through every step of the induction process in plain English. The key difference is that she shared it from her relatable viewpoint of a mother who has been through an induction - not from a clinical perspective without emotion. It truly felt like she was sharing the experience with us. While we encountered great nurses and doctors at Texas Children’s Hospital, Naomi’s compassion thoughtfulness and optimism stood out during our stay. Naomi magically made our stressful situation disappear and turned the delivery of our son into a peaceful and joyous experience. Because of her, we were able to forget about cancer for the night and focus on celebrating his birth.
