The care and compassion she showed every single patient was so moving and unlike no other that I have witnessed.
I came into the outpatient oncology department to receive an iron transfusion. As I sat there receiving my iron infusion the room was full. Patients were receiving infusions, such as chemo and iron, injections were being given, and ports were being accessed for lab all while the clinic was also seeing patients, patients that needed to be set up for further testing and appointments, patients that needed prescriptions called in, and patients that needed small procedures done that day before leaving. Mitzi was there that day, working for the most part as the sole nurse for the entire unit, there were other nurses there from other units to help her put out the one million small fires that day but still, Mitzi was the one that had the whole unit on her shoulders. As I sat back and watched this go on NOT ONCE with everything she had going on did she change the way she took care of her patients. She kept a smile on her face the whole time. EVERY PATIENT that wanted to just have “small talk” she stopped and gave them her undivided attention and laughed and loved on each of them. The care and compassion she showed every single patient was so moving and unlike no other that I have witnessed. These patients absolutely adored her and she adored them. This job is more than just a job to her … it’s a ministry that God is using her mightily in. These patients that are facing difficult circumstances in life are so blessed to have her as their friend and nurse and you at Fayette Medical Center have to know you have a diamond in the rough! Our community is blessed to have you! Thank you for taking such good care of me.
