Missy is not only a nurse, but also a preceptor, a charge nurse, and a best friend. She will help anyone and everyone in need. Even on her day off from work, she was there for me.
I was 31 weeks pregnant when my water broke while I was home alone. I called Missy for advice, and she immediately sprang into action. She packed up her newborn baby and drove me to the hospital. She calmed my fears and reminded me that everything would be fine. I knew how wise she was because she had been my preceptor and charge nurse. She was someone I knew I could trust.
Missy checked on me often and even went as far as bringing me my favorite snacks. After my babies were born, they were transferred to the NICU. I had to go out of town for two days and Missy graciously volunteered to visit my babies while I was away. She did this on her birthday and Christmas Eve of all days. This is what being a nurse means to me- taking care of me and my babies on and off the clock. It is who Missy is.
As a co-worker of Missy's, I have followed her assignments, and I know her patients can't say enough about her. She has stayed late to help make sure her patients and all patients on the floor are taken care of. She treats all of her patients like they are her family. She genuinely listens and often times reaches out to other resources they may need. Missy is an amazing nurse, and I am fortunate to have had her there by my side during this difficult time.
