Our Mom fell at home and broke her left hip and wrist, at age 90. She was in a temporary cast from her shoulder to her fingers and her hip needed surgery. My sister and I were frantic. Our father had passed a year before here at Ellis Hospital. Our stress was immeasurable.
Then Michelle walked into the room, introduced herself and wrote her name on the whiteboard. We told her what happened to our father and now our mother and how worried we were. Michelle was patient and listened to us. She kept us informed on what was happening and answered all of our questions regarding her care and medications. Michelle is an asset to Ellis and is everything and more than a nurse should be: professional, positive, knowledgeable, kind, and compassionate. When we (my sisters, mom and I) wanted to cry, Michelle made us laugh and smile. She was positive and had a bright outlook. In a short stay, my mom formed a bond with her, which was seen when Mom found out she was going to rehab by thanking Michelle and telling her she was going to be missed with tears in her eyes. Those were tears of happiness for Michelle Rightmeyer who was an angel to my mom.
