Michelle Okada brought a Veteran from the Specialty Clinic to the Emergency Department. She explained to the Veteran about his diabetes and how she is treating his low blood sugar. She delivered patient-focused care and by acting quickly, improving the care and outcome of hypoglycemia. She assessed the Veteran diaphoretic and checked his blood sugar and transported him to the Emergency Department. She used SBAR and treated his blood sugar with oral glucose. She gave excellent transfer of care.
Michelle is an excellent Nurse and evaluated the Veteran and treated his low blood sugar which improved his outcome. Her rapid evaluation and treatment of the Veteran show how to rescue him from hypoglycemia and improve his outcome. She really assisted us in the Emergency Department on a busy day. She is awesome!
