There was one day where we had a patient coming into our unit with known bed bugs to have a colonoscopy procedure. Michelle Surabian stepped up to take this patient and prep and interview the patient when other staff members were too nervous to come in contact with this patient. Michelle went out of her way to make this patient feel comfortable, help her change and make her feel welcomed. The patient was very thankful to Michelle’s kindness. This is one of the examples of how kind and selfless Michelle is. Every patient she comes in contact with, she treats them with patience and kindness. She has a way to make patients feel comfortable especially when coming into our unit for a procedure they’re already nervous about. I was lucky enough to train under her when I first started and there have been countless times I have witnessed her ease patients' anxiety. She is always attentive and understanding to patients' concerns. She is always there to not only help with the patient needs but also to help the staff and goes above and beyond in her role. She is selfless and an amazing nurse. I would love for her hard work to be recognized. She is the nurse I strive to be everyday.
