Melissa is a wealth of knowledge and always knows the right contact person or right way to get things fixed.
Melissa is an extremely strong team leader. Our unit is often faced with staffing issues, supply shortages, and impatient physicians whom all need her attention. I know when I need something fixed she is the person I can count on to get it done. She is a wealth of knowledge and always knows the right contact person or right way to get things fixed. She is consistent in her work, always striving for fairness in assignments amongst, staff, and is always available to lend a hand. There have been numerous situations where she has had to take her own patient assignment due to staffing shortages yet she still manages to help in all deliveries, provide breaks to the unit staff, and stay in constant communication with our neighboring units about ongoing situations that may have an impact on their census or staffing. There are so many days that I don't think the unit would of survived without her leadership skills guiding the team and we are so lucky to have her.

Melissa is an exceptional charge nurse. Our unit went through a lot when COVID hit. We were down a lot of nurses and up with a lot of patients. Even when Melissa had her own patients and even her own deliveries, she still resumed the role of charge nurse and made to each delivery and emergency despite being spread so thin already. When COVID first started we didn't know much about it and everything was so unclear. Melissa was one of the first nurses on the unit to offer herself to learn how to swab patients. Despite having pre-existing medical issues that make her vulnerable to the virus. While others were scared, Melissa was first to provide high-quality care to those who needed it the most. She continues to show her commitment to the team and organization.
