My wife and I both feel special recognition should be given to Melinda Weber, in the skin and sarcoma division of the JTCC at HUMC. As a patient being treated for idiopathic autoimmune hemolytic anemia, I have been followed under her care for nearly 15 years. Working with my doctor, she would handle the administration of chemotherapy treatment, review my status with me, and follow up later. Throughout this process, Melinda always extended herself to be accessible, helpful, informative, sympathetic, and understanding. I knew I could always call her if concerned about absolutely anything - be it a medical question or just simply nervousness. After approximately 175 hours of chemo treatment over the years, she has shown steady concern for my wellbeing. I knew she "had my back" when I was admitted to the general hospital with pneumonia and she worked, checking with my doctor, to be sure there were no negative effects and to avoid complications in my condition. We could always call her during the many years of ups and downs, treatments, and fears. By checking out details, responding to requests, and always being there when needed she is a key to my continued health and comfort level throughout this ongoing process. When people show compassion combined with professionalism and performance throughout many years, they make you feel good and deserve to be recognized. Certainly, Melinda more than deserves it.
