Meagan was my labor and delivery nurse when I gave birth to my daughter L... Meagan stood out to me for several reasons. One, she was incredibly friendly and not just in the typical polite bedside manner most nurses have. She really made me feel heard. She listened to me when I expressed my fear during my epidural. She heard me when I told her my epidural didn’t take on one side and made sure it was fixed. She took the time to get to know us, and made us feel as if we were her priority. When I had excess bleeding after delivery, she kept up with it and made sure I was okay. She knew how hungry I was after delivery and took the time to get me two turkey sandwiches. When I left my hair tie behind in the labor and delivery room, she personally went and found it for me and brought it to our recovery room. I know that seems small, but those personal details are the reason I remembered her name above all the other nurses we had that day. The staff at FMH are all excellent, but I really wanted to express my sincere gratitude for the care Meagan showed me and my husband. I didn’t feel like she was just a nurse doing her job. She truly made us feel important and that the safety of me and my baby mattered to her. Even if she isn’t selected for this award, I hope she will see this and reaffirm that she is in the right profession. Any woman would be lucky to have her as a labor and delivery nurse. And I am thankful and blessed that she was mine for the birth of my daughter. Thank you again, Meagan! You are truly a blessing!
