He is so invested in his little ones, even giving them sweet nicknames.  He took such good care of his NICU babies that it was almost as if he was caring for his own daughter.
Matt is an exceptional nurse and an exceptional person!  Our baby was born and admitted to the NICU 3 months earlier than her due date.  Those first few days, I remember being so confused since there was such a large learning curve with the NICU.  Matt first stood out to us those first few days when he carefully talked us through everything.  He explained things to us clearly and was so patient with us.  He would always ask us what other questions we had after we had just asked him questions for a long time.  He just wanted to be sure that we understood everything.  It was extremely reassuring.

Besides his fantastic bedside manner with us as parents, he was AMAZING with our daughter.  He is so invested in his little ones, even giving them sweet nicknames.  He took such good care of his NICU babies that it was almost as if he was caring for his own daughter.  We knew our baby girl was loved if he was working and we couldn’t be there. We didn’t know much about the “rules” of the NICU and thought she would be assigned a primary care team.  We asked him about it and later that night he told us he signed up to be her primary.  We couldn’t have been more thrilled.

Out of all of the amazing nurses at Edwards, we had really connected to him.  Evidently, we weren’t the only ones since several other families asked him to be their primary, but he had already signed up to be C’s.  Our daughter stayed for 106 days in the NICU and she wasn’t progressing with her feedings.  Matt was an amazing advocate for us, making sure that each shift the bottle was really being pushed more than her feeding tube.  He was analyzing graphs of her feeding and spoke with the doctors often to advocate for her. He has taken care of one of the most precious gifts in the world to us and took great care of her.  When it got close to her discharge day, he was so invested that he was going to come in on his day off to help her get discharged.  He is the epitome of going above and beyond.  We cannot thank Matt enough for what he has done for our family.  He is amazing at what he does, and so many babies benefit from him on a daily basis.  Thank you!
