My husband was a patient in the Wentworth-Douglass Hospital Emergency Room. We were both impressed by the knowledge, skill, and caring demeanor of the nurse, Matthew, who took care of him that night.
Matthew saw that my husband's prostatic stent needed to be removed because a bladder scan showed urine was not being passed. Matthew was familiar with the procedure and stood by the physician, to provide guidance for safe removal.
Matthew then gently inserted a catheter to drain the urine past a greatly enlarged prostate. My husband asked when Matthew was going to insert the catheter. Matthew performed the procedure so gently that my husband didn't even feel it being done. Usually, he experiences quite a lot of pain when a catheter is inserted.
We appreciate the care Matthew gave my husband on a very busy night. He took the time to explain each procedure he did. He sympathized with us over the long wait. He was patient and helpful making sure we had everything we needed. Matthew made a long stay in the Emergency Room better for both of us by his confident, caring manner.
