I have been a patient at Miami Valley Hospital four times over the past two years and had the good fortune to have Mary Lou O'Brien take care of me. She is the kindest, most compassionate nurse I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

Mary Lou is everything a nurse should be; kind, compassionate, smart, attentive to detail and most importantly - caring.

Mary Lou is the only nurse who made sure I knew how to call her over the phone if I felt I had to wait too long after pressing the call button. This little gesture put me at ease as I have MS and very limited mobility. When I actually did call her a couple of times, she came to me within a couple of minutes.

I loved watching her mentor an equally kind student nurse. Mary Lou was supportive and patient with her student.

I may never see Mary Lou again but I am a better person having been cared for her during my stay at MVH. Thank you, Mary Lou!
