Mary Hill took great care of my dad after he was admitted to the trauma ICU from a motorcycle accident. He was critical and sometimes a 1:1. I appreciated how she communicated with us as family. Mary always spoke to my dad directly, explained what she was assessing or administering even though he was intubated and sedated. She always addressed him by his name. When Mary spoke to us she made us comfortable. She took the time and answered a million questions for us, and if she didn't know an answer she would always go and try to find one. She is honest, kept us updated and in contact with all his care teams. Most importantly she delivered excellent care.
Mary was very thorough in her assessments, she never skimmed over anything even when the unit was busy or her assignment was heavy. I hope you consider Mary one of your most valuable nurses! She was key in taking critical info and advocating for the best practice. This resulted in positive changes for my dad. Without Mary my dad's outcome could have been very different. Another thing we loved about her was her sense of humor. Having our dad in ICU was a scary, intense time. Mary was able to put us at ease. Thank you, Mary, you will be remembered and appreciated.
