Marva clearly exhibits the ACT value not with just one particular patient but all patients and their families. But if one was to pick an individual patient, one comes to mind immediately. A patient was recently admitted to our unit with a new diagnosis of cancer. This gentleman, upon admission, led a very active and fulfilling life as a professor of a well-known facility, and pretty much familiar with health care as family members are part of the healthcare system as well. Marva knew from day one of admission the new diagnosis. She immediately supported the other nurses, her peers, with her expertise and spiritual guidance to care for this young man and his family.
Cancer treatment can be both rewarding and at times difficult. This patient never returned home to spend his end of life. Marva did have a difficult time but knew in the end her time spent caring for the patient/family and staff was very rewarding and brought her much comfort as she mourns. Marva would never see this as exceptional but part of her role as a nurse.

Marva always puts patients in her top priority. She consistently goes above and beyond to ensure her patients receive the best care. She is compassionate, caring, understanding and considerate towards everyone on the floor.
