Marina was very compassionate and attentive to not only my father, who was terminally ill with cancer, but the rest of my family. She worked super hard on her shift to stabilize my father and made a point to ask us, "the family", if we needed anything at all or had any questions because she wanted to be sure to our needs were taken care of as well. At this moment, we knew the Lord has sent us an angel to care for us during this difficult time. We have never encountered a nurse who went out of their way to care for the family as well as the patient. Marina not only did her job as a nurse, she truly showed us what caring and compassion really means. Marina was so comforting and encouraged us to stay the night as my father was very unstable. She went out of her way to make our beds in the room, she brought us warm blankets, snacks, drinks, and offered anything to help us feel comfortable and deal with my sick father's prognosis.
She is truly a model for patient and family centered care as the care she provided over the weekend was extraordinary! She truly goes above and beyond for her patients and families. Although my father's outcome was not what we envisioned, she did everything she could to stabilize and care for him, and most of all, keep him comfortable. Her hug at the end of her 2 shifts was genuine and you could tell she really cared about us, the patient and the family. We will never forget the care she provided to our loved one, the smiles she greeted us with, and the heartfelt compassion she gave us during this difficult time.
