Marina stands out vividly as the best overall nurse I have ever had.

Marina was nominated by three different patients:

  • While I am incredibly pleased with the performance and care of the surgeons and team involved with my surgery that is not my main reason for writing you today. Being a kidney stone producer and having been hospitalized 8 times in the last 10 years, I had quite a varied array of both good and bad experiences. I write to tell you of the most positive experiences of them all. The majority of time patients spend with surgeons is under anesthesia, and not conducive to any real conversation. The patient’s experience is oftentimes comprised of the interaction with nurses and floor staff. The true front line. This brings me to Marina Sharkey. Occupying a bed on her floor, and being there for more than a week, Marina was my nurse on several of those days. Her knowledge, skills, and attitude are a shining star testament to what all nurses should strive to achieve. I have never had better care. While kind, and respectful, Marina was direct and informative. Her description of procedures, tests, and especially what to expect medically was a pleasant relief. Her punctuality and ability to multitask were impressive. If she told me she would return in twenty minutes, she returned in twenty minutes. For as simple as that may sound, it is understood that in a hospital environment, things can change quickly adjusting priorities and timeframes. Toward the end of my stay, despite the incredible discomfort of having that surgery, Marina was motivational in getting me on my feet and pushing past the discomfort in order to get me walking and self-sufficient again. In summation having had quite a few nurses in several hospitals, Marina stands out vividly as the best overall nurse I have ever had. Her entire job performance is commendable to the highest degree and worthy of recognition. She is an asset to the entire Jefferson community, and I thank you for having team members like her on your staff. Thank you for your time and all that your team has done.
  • Marina was a great night nurse. I have not slept five hours straight in a month and she helped everyone who came in to be calm and quiet to let me sleep while helping answer questions.
  • Marina is a fabulous nurse! She is extremely professional and knowledgeable. Marina took care of me for two days while I was there. I really will miss her!
