Marie is always available to the staff. She is willing to help us whenever we need it, for WHATEVER we need.

I would like to nominate Marie Baker for the DAISY Award. I have worked with Marie on several projects since starting here at Mercy. We worked together on getting Clinical Competencies Skills for new hires set up at Mercy. She is a valuable resource and so knowledgeable that she made this new process flow so smoothly. She is a great collaborator and team player and never got tired of me asking questions about what her thoughts were about what would work the best for Mercy and our staff. Marie also helps out as a facilitator at our annual Skill's Day and to hear her educate staff on central lines, she exemplifies her love and passion for nursing and providing the highest quality of care. Marie is looked upon as a mentor and a role model for her staff. A fellow co-worker stated that "Marie is always available to the staff. She is willing to help us whenever we need it, for WHATEVER we need - work, personal, patients, anything. She is an outstanding role model and team lead."

Marie has also been very instrumental when we started utilizing Tele-Neuro at Mercy. Her dedication and expertise were invaluable to the success of this new process being implemented. Her ever constant learning and critical thinking skills during this phase allow us to continue to provide high-quality care. Marie is also in the process of obtaining her stroke certification and will be the first nurse at Mercy to obtain. There was a patient who had a stroke and spoke a dialect of Spanish that the language access department didn't have so instead used a Spanish interpreter. Marie then utilized MARTI and found an interpreter that was closer to the dialect and between them, Marie and the daughter, the patient was able to be assessed by TeleNeuro appropriately.

Even though she is the TeleNeuro nurse, you never have to ask her to help out on the unit. She is always there for her staff, whether it is assisting another nurse with a patient, starting IVs on other units, etc. She never complains and always has a smile on her face. If you looked up the definition of CHI Health's mission and core values, Marie's name would be listed as the definition.

Please consider Marie as a DAISY Award recipient.
