Many times, when fellow staff do extraordinary things, we tend to forget. Not forget but forget to write it down. I want to use this opportunity to nominate Maria Yu as an extraordinary supervisor. She is an excellent team player. She is a Supervisor, but she still can help you when you need help. She is very smart, articulate, helpful and she is a great listener. Many times, she has proven to be extraordinary.
I remember one instance when I was a rapid response nurse, we had a code on the floor. There was no one else to document at the time of the code. Maria took it upon herself to help us document for that code.
Maria is always there when you need her. Every night she works she would always make herself available and she takes time to go to each floor to let us know that she is here for us. She interacts with nurses and makes us feel appreciated. In times of crisis, she is there to try to resolve whatever problems we have.
In terms of scheduling, Maria knows her nurses and the floor very well. She is very observant, and she is an excellent nursing supervisor. One time when I was sick at work, she quickly helped and found a replacement and wheeled me down to the ER. She was there for me and she checked on me from time to time. She is a great person and she shows empathy for others.
