I had several patients and families tell me that she was doing an excellent job and they were always surprised to find out that she was still a student and not a new nurse on orientation.
Madi continually exceeded expectations as a nursing student. She was attentive during teaching moments, dove into every new experience she encountered, and was fantastic at time management. In addition to her commitment to learning, she spent her spare moments helping out other nurses and staff, often without being asked. There were several times when I would notice that Madi was no longer at the nurses' station and when she came back, I discovered that she was assisting other nurses with IV starts, taking vitals for patients outside of her patient assignment, or answering the call light for all patients on the unit. Madi never hesitated to jump in and help out. Throughout Madi's capstone, I always looked forward to having her with me. Seeing her interact with patients and families, perform nursing activities with confidence, and even educate patients without hesitation made me proud to be her preceptor. I had several patients and families tell me that she was doing an excellent job and they were always surprised to find out that she was still a student and not a new nurse on orientation. Madi is thoughtful and caring, goes above and beyond for her patients, is always willing to lend a helping hand, and demonstrates an impressive knowledge of medicine at this stage in her career. Madi--thank you for doing an amazing job during your capstone and for caring for my patients with me. You are going to be an incredible nurse and I cannot wait to hear about all of the amazing things you will certainly do in your career. I hope I will have the honor of working alongside you in the future so I can see firsthand just how bright you shine.
