She was right by my side through it all supporting me with encouraging words and a warm comforting touch through the uncomfortable moments.
While giving birth to my sweet baby girl, A, I came in contact with many different nurses throughout my 2 days in the hospital. I was so fortunate to have Lynette as my nurse on day 1 when I first arrived through some of the most difficult times in the birthing/post-partum (arrival, induction - water breaking with it). She was extremely compassionate, sympathetic, attentive, and overall just a very caring/personable nurse that went above and beyond to form a genuine connection with my husband and me to make us feel at ease and cared for. She initially asked if I was comfortable with physical touch and had I said no, I think she would have respected that boundary. However, I said yes and so she was right by my side through it all supporting me with encouraging words and a warm comforting touch through the uncomfortable moments. You could tell as a patient, she was well respected and recognized by others. For example, the anesthesiologist made a comment that this was her "true calling" in a career choice, as she clearly was meant for supportive patient care, specifically for new mamas in Labor and Delivery. Our short interaction during her one shift made a positive experience for me that stick with me for my life.
