The MD approved, and when the patient’s husband arrived, Lisa personally took the patient down to see her dog.
An oncology patient has been in the hospital and had missed the majority of her family’s birthdays. She was very down and missing her family and home. She asked if there was any way she could see her dog as kind of a “pick me up.”

Pre-COVID, pet therapy was available. Since the patient was not getting active chemo, Lisa collaborated with the patient's attending MD to allow the patient off the floor and visit her dog at the main entrance (outside). The MD approved, and when the patient’s husband arrived, Lisa personally took the patient down to see her dog. The patient was so much happier and in better spirits. This effect has lasted for several days after, and the patient has been very optimistic and in high spirits.
