Lisa gave me comfort knowing how much I have been missing my dear sweet wife all these months that I've been away from her.
The reason I am writing this nomination letter about nurse Lisa Harvey is because of the extremely compassionate way that she conducted herself regarding her care for me as a patient. She didn't get off easy taking care of me. I do not trouble her so much with my need for medical care or treatment, in fact, I could probably take perfect care of myself regarding my health. All I need is medicine and the prescription, so I knew what amount of each pill I needed to take. The rest will be written on yellow tablet paper. You might say that any capable nurse could take very good care of me, however, the care I needed didn't come in a prescription bottle. It had to be given to me by someone who had a very caring heart for the concern of her individual patients; I am very blessed that Lisa is the nurse that was assigned to take care of me, and she is still doing it.

Whoever put her in charge of me, I thank you as well. Why do I feel this way about Lisa? It is because she's helped me to get through some very difficult times regarding a terrible incident that happened to me when I left my home in Belize and came to Miami to look for a VA Hospital because I was told by a doctor in Belize that I had an enlarged prostate and was worried that I might have prostate cancer. We only lived in Belize for three years, so I wasn't sure how good the doctor was. To make a long story short, a cab driver beat me, robbed me, and stole my passport, my iPhone, my laptop, my wallet, my bank card, my ID, my license, and almost my reason to cope at all. This brings me to a very special nurse named Lisa.

I can't tell you how happy I am that she is my nurse and to make it more special she is assigned right outside of my room’s door. It is special because she is very special. I have been in the VA's care for 16 months; of all that time, I have been only in Lisa’s care for 2 months and 3 days. To be perfectly honest with you, I have received more help and compassion from her in the 4 months and 3 days than the remaining year that I spent in the VA hospitals since I left Belize. Lisa gave me comfort knowing how much I have been missing my dear sweet wife all these months that I've been away from her. I would guess that I approached Lisa with a question over a situation that I was in over 600 to 1000 times and not once did she ever ask me to go away or say, "Not now."
