The meaningful and caring encounters Linecee has with our families are too countless to name. She is a strong patient advocate and encourages parental participation, involving parents in the care of their infant by providing education so that they can fully care for their child.
It is easy to get caught up with all the technology used to treat patients in the NICU, but Linecee always puts the infant and family's needs first. She breaks down the technology for the family to alleviate their fears and allow them to parent. Linecee is the nurse who takes a pause on extremely busy days to assist parents with giving their preemie infant his or her first tub bath, knowing full well that she will have to stay long past her shift's end to complete documentation for the day. During times like this, Linecee gives parents her undivided attention as her calm reassuring demeanor nurtures while they learn to care for their child. Linecee makes them feel as they are her only priority.
Linecee is often, years later, called upon by families to celebrate birthdays of the babies she has cared for. The bond she creates with families lasts a lifetime.
Linecee is both a humble and proud caregiver. Her patients and families love her, the staff admire her; we can all learn from her as she truly is a role model and inspiration for all nurses. We are incredibly fortunate to have Linecee as a part of our NICU team at Sarasota Memorial Hospital. She is an amazing person inside and out and most certainly deserving of the DAISY Award.
