I have had the privilege of working with Laura in many different mental health units for 5 years. No matter where she is working, she is dedicated to giving great patient care. She is also a wonderful teacher and mentor to new nurses. Over the last 5 years, she has shown me by example what it means to “know the way, show the way”, and “care like crazy”. She knows what she does, and her coworkers and patients alike have benefited from her in so many ways. She is so deserving of the DAISY!!

I have tremendous respect for her clinical skills, professional integrity, and her “bedside manner”. I admire the breadth of her professional knowledge, which enables her to flow to every unit in the Behavioral Health department and also to medical units and to competently work with every patient population and every unit’s team with ease. I think it is rare to find a professional who can be so flexible and so knowledgeable.

Laura is always a calm presence, no matter the situation. I have observed her to be the same calm, caring, consistent nurse whether completing a set of vitals or in a crisis with an agitated patient. She is a nurse and a person who can be relied on to show up ready to do whatever is required of her, and she does so quietly, never drawing attention to her service excellence. She remains focused on her patients’ needs, and she advocates for them when their needs are beyond her scope of practice. She is most definitely a nurse I would implicitly trust to care for me or any of my family members.

In addition to her excellent clinical nursing skills, she regularly brings to work a bounty of fresh, homegrown vegetables and homemade salsa that she shares with everyone. She has also quietly committed herself to publicly recognizing her team members for their service excellence.
